Woodford Plastics employs the infrastructure to enable us to work on some of the UK's largest and prestigious projects. An example of large and/or prestigeous projects that we have worked on are as follows;
Project name: HMP Belmarsh West
The £415 million Belmarsh West PFI New Prison in South London will be operated by Serco , and designed and built under a £100m construction contract by their construction partner Skanska . The new prison, built to category B standards, is designed to achieve BREEAM excellent rating.
The prison, which will be built to Category B standards by Skanska, will accommodate 900 adult male prisoners.
Belmarsh West is due to open early in 2012.
Project name: University of Reading phase's 1 & 2
Client: Briggs & Forrester
The current construction project is the new build of 895 student accomodation rooms. The University already has some 4170 student accomodation rooms and the new operator UPP expects to develop a further 650 rooms which will complete the current Whiteknights accommodation project.
The University of Reading is rated as one of the top 200 universities in the world (QS World Rankings 2010). The University is one of the UK’s top research-intensive universities and is ranked in the top 20 UK higher education institutions in success rates for securing research council grants worth nearly £10 million from UK Research Councils. In the RAE 2008, over 87% of the university’s research was deemed to be of international standing. Areas of particular research strength recognised include meteorology and climate change, typography and graphic design, archaeology, philosophy, food biosciences, construction management, real estate and planning, as well as law. Standards of teaching and the student experience are excellent - the University scored highly in the National Student Survey 2010
Project name: RAF Brize Norton
Scope of works:
RAF Brize Norton is the largest Station in the Royal Air Force, employing some 3900 Service personnel and over 600 civilians. It is an extremely busy station and is constantly in the public eye, as the main airport used for deploying UK troops worldwide.
The stations mission is "To project Air Transport and Air-to-Air Refuelling and support deployed operations and exercises".
The new facility – called the AirTanker Hub – is designed to provide full support for the future fleet of 14 A330 Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft (FSTA). It consists of a two-bay hangar, workshops, stores and three floors of office accommodation, which means that the Hub operates as a maintenance facility, flight operations centre and main headquarters for all military and civilian personnel working on the FSTA service.
